The Scotland's Speciality Food Show was my NC end of year personal project where I was able to chose whatever I wanted. I really enjoy branding so I chose to do a re-brand for Scotland's Speciality Food Show that is held here in Glasgow at the SEC Hydo every year.

For the show I designed a new logo, merchandise and advertisement material.

I went with purple as purple tartan is my favourite, I think it is elegant and it is a lovely strong, professional colour. However I thought tartan itself was too obvious so instead I decided on varying shades of purple and blue, and placed them in shapes that hint on the structure of tartan but just enough not to be too stereotypical.

The dark blues and purples also really nicely represent the cold, stormy seas we have here in Scotland and I paired these with a simple outline of Scotland placed over the top. This way there is absolutely no denying what county’s produce the show is celebrating.

The font I kept quite playful with a certain hand generated feel to it; as the show is a celebration of Scottish produce and business so it represents the hard work and personal qualities of each.
